"Hearing & Doing"
"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? I will show
you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into
practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the
foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could
not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does
not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without
a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its
destruction was complete."
Luke 6:46-49 NIV

You desire and search for purpose, for meaning, for a reason for living. And despite all your efforts to find these things, you find emptiness instead, a lack of fulfillment. There seems to be something missing. You may try to fill that emptiness with possessions - you know - that big TV, bigger and faster car, the latest fashion, the latest decor.... You may try to fill that emptiness with relationships - but they don't get you - and you look for different relationships, but they don't get you either.... Have you ever been in a crowd and still feel very alone? Have you tried religion and found yourself short of the standards expected of you?
There is only one way to fill that void in your life - only one way that leads you to fulfillment. And that question where you will be after death will be answered. This way is through Jesus. Jesus himself states in John 14:6: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Not only is Jesus the way that leads to God, but He is truth that gives you the true knowledge about God, and only through Him you find true life. The Bible also states in John 17:3: "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." How awesome is that! You can actually have an intimate relationship with Almighty God!
So why is Jesus the way? Why do we need Him to get to God? Well, it's because mankind has a serious problem and that problem is sin. Sin has separated you from God. You see it is not just one act of doing wrong - for e.g. lying or cussing somebody out - but it is that all of mankind are sinners. The Bible says in Psalm 51:5 "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." (NIV). And being born a sinner, sinning comes naturally. Mankind is not basically good but basically sinful. You say that's not right! Give people a chance, teach them to do right and we'll show they're basically good! I say: "look at children." You have to teach them to tell the truth - you don't have to teach them to lie because they do that naturally. The world seems to find lying naturally. Why do we need laws? The basis of law is to get people to respect, and treat others right and their property. Your actions affect other people. The Bible says: "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?(Jeremiah 17:9) You see the problem is within. The law will restrain the person from doing wrong but will not change the heart.
So you see that all of mankind have sinned and have fallen short of the God's standards. And the wages of sin is death. This is where Jesus comes in. Jesus has come to change your sinful heart to a good heart. (Ezekiel 36:26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.) So you see that Jesus has come to save you from your sins, from yourselves and from spiritual death.
God loves this world so much that He gave His one and only Son Jesus, that whoever believes in Him (relies on, commit oneself to Him)would not perish but have eternal life. Jesus who had no sin, paid the ultimate price by bearing your sins and the punishment for your sins upon Himself on the cross. He was crucified - an awful punishment! But death could not hold Him. He rose on the third day and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. And now through Jesus you can receive forgiveness for all your sins and deliverance from the power that sin has in your life.
When you decide to surrender to Jesus and receive forgiveness for your sins, you are given the right to become a child of God. Being a child of God brings intimate fellowship with God Himself and Jesus Christ. This is true life!
Are you interested? Would you like to receive Jesus Christ right now?
Receiving Christ involves:
1. Recognizing your need for Jesus Christ - that's believing.
2. Turning to Christ and turning away from your sins - that's repent.
3. Trusting Jesus Christ to come into your life, forgive your sins, and make you what He wants you to be - that's surrender to God.
Just to agree that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for your sins is not enough. Nor is an emotional experience is enough. You receive Jesus Christ by faith as a decision of your will.
So you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer. Prayer is talking with God. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with you being sincere.
Here is a suggested prayer:
Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank you for dying on the cross in my place for my sins. I believe in You, and I open the door of my life and receive You as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life and make me the kind of person You want me to be.
If you have prayed to receive Jesus into your life, please contact us and let us know of your decision. We would like to help you begin your life in Jesus.
Here are Bible verses to help you make your decision for Christ:
Isaiah 59:2-3 But your iniquities have separated you from
your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that
He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and
your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your
tongue has muttered perversity.
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through
one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to
all men, because all sinned.
Romans 3:9-26 What shall we conclude then?
Are we any better? Not at all! We have already made the charge
that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. As it is
written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no
one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away,
they have together become worthless; there is no one who does
good, not even one." "Their throats are open graves; their
tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their
lips." "Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness." "Their
feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their
ways, and the way of peace they do not know." "There
is no fear of God before their eyes." Now we know that whatever
the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that
every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable
to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in His sight
by observing the law; rather, through the law we become
conscious of sin. But now a righteousness from God, apart from
law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets
testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in
Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are
justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came
by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement,
through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His
justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins
committed beforehand unpunished— He did it to demonstrate His
justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who
justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Romans 5:1 Therefore,
since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with
God through our Lord Jesus Christ
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that he gave
His
one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish
but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the
world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
Hebrews 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ,
who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to
God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so
that we may serve the living God!
Ezekiel 36:26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new
spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and
give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and
move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one mediator
between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a
ransom for all men.
Romans 5:8-10 But God demonstrates His own love for us in
this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we
have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be
saved from God's wrath through Him! For if, when we were God's
enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of his Son,
how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through
His life!
2 Corinthians 5:20-21 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors,
as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you
on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made Him who had
no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the
righteousness of God.
Titus 3:4-7 But when the kindness and love of God our
Saviour appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things
we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the
washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He
poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so
that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs
having the hope of eternal life.
1 John 4:9-10 This is how God showed His love among us: He
sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live
through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He
loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for
us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 John 3:4-5 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin
is lawlessness. But you know that He appeared so that He might
take away our sins. And in Him is no sin.
1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.
